CATHERINE (nee MULQUEEN) LYNCH (b. 1872 Eire)
Born in Dooras in 1872 Catherine came to Australia with Michael and John but unlike her brothers she stayed in Melbourne. When she was in a position to do so she purchased a Confectionary Shop in Port Melbourne and on the arrival of her sister Margaret in 1901 she asked her to assist in the running of the Shop.
Catherine married at the age of about 50 to Mr. Michael Lynch. The pair returned to Ireland to live but this did not last, and they returned after 12 months. On their return they lived at Canterbury, before moving to Armidale. Michael passed away first on December 29th 1949 and then Catherine died in 1957 at the age of 85 Years. She left her home and personal effects to May and Kit (Daughters of Michael) they were her closest Nieces.
She was remembered as gracious, kind, loving and enriched in true Irish culture. She and her husband are buried in Melbourne.
