MARGARET ‘Maggie’ (nee MULQUEEN) DAVERN (Born Eire 1883)
One of Six girls and Six boys born to Michael and Catherine Mulqueen of Dooras. She joined her brother Andrew journeying to Australia in 1901(After the Irish Census of that year). On her arrival she stayed with her sister Catherine in Melbourne whilst Andrew went on to Bendigo. Catherine has a small mixed business in Port Melbourne and Margaret helped out in the Shop. Margaret enjoyed the Melbourne social life. She met a policeman, John Michael Davern, who was from Kyneton and the pair married on May 7th 1912 at St. Joseph’s Church Port Melbourne. The couple lived at Nth Fitzroy, and they had six children.
Their children:
- John; married Nellie Rice, (Children; John, Patricia, Linda, and Terrence)
- Kevin (Single),
- Catherine Margaret ‘Kathleen’ who lost contact with the family
- Desmond; married Sylvia Philp (Child; Desmond)
- Raymond; married Sharn Adriana (Stepchildren; Anthony and Terrence MacManus)
- Moira Patricia married Warwick Joseph White (Children; Kerreen, Christine & Michael)
